Health Holland PPS grant received for developing heart attack algorithm

This project will contribute to a further refinement in selection, routing and therapeutic outcome of patients presenting with chest pain. Positive impact of this project on healthcare costs will be two-fold. For patients without myocardial infarction, fewer emergency department referrals will be required, alleviating strain on the healthcare system and reducing costs. For patients with occlusive myocardial infarction faster referral will have immediate effects such as sparing heart muscle tissue and reducing complications, but also downstream effects such as a reduction in the development of heart failure.
